Yohan Rathnayake won Sri Lanka's first Hyrox gold, then opened FHIIT at Orion City

He left an eight-year corporate career and started coaching one or two clients. The fitness system he built, FHIIT, now has a new home at Orion City in Colombo, and its founder has a gold medal from Hyrox Bengaluru, the first Sri Lanka has won in the sport.

In short

Yohan Rathnayake is the founder of FHIIT, a Colombo fitness system built around structured programmes and measurable performance. At Hyrox Bengaluru he and Trevin Reid won the men's doubles, Sri Lanka's first gold in the sport, while Shamara Rahim and Tuwani Wijesundara took silver in the women's doubles. FHIIT has since opened a new gym at Orion City combining functional training, strength, conditioning and group workouts.

The story

Hyrox is not a typical competition. Every race is the same: 8km of running broken up by eight functional workout stations, so results are comparable across cities. It has become one of the fastest-growing fitness formats in the world, and Sri Lanka entered it at a winning level.

At Hyrox Bengaluru, Yohan Rathnayake and Trevin Reid took gold in the men's doubles against a strong international field, and Shamara Rahim and Tuwani Wijesundara took silver in the women's doubles. It was the first gold Sri Lanka had won in the sport.

Rathnayake is not only an athlete. He left a corporate career of more than eight years to coach, started with one or two clients, and built FHIIT into what it describes as one of Sri Lanka's leading structured fitness systems, with the focus on performance you can measure. He now competes on the same global stage he trains people for.

The next step was a bigger space. FHIIT's new fitness destination at Orion City brings functional training, strength, conditioning and group workouts together in one community-focused gym, with structured programmes and experienced coaches for everyone from first-time gym-goers to experienced members. The stated aim is consistency: making training something people actually stick with.
